He has worked in several films like Azhavai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu, Kaadhal, etc. He directed Enradhukulla, featuring Vikram and Samantha. He was accused of making freelancers work without paying them. He directed Goli Soda 2 through his own production company named Rough Note Production. Vinay was nominated for the best director award for the Goli Soda movie at the South Indian International Movie Awards.
